ABSTRACT
By now we have reviewed sapiens’ history until 1500 CE, emphasizing and delving deeper into cultural evolution, cooperation, and conflict. In this chapter, we review the period 1500–2000, again along these three main themes, in particular their relations to urbanization, ideology, and imperialism, and we will explain the rapid increase of cultural elements during the Industrial Revolution that saw disastrous consequences for the natural environment.
