ABSTRACT

Practicing medicine was rewarding for the author. But he became increasingly aware of the fact that medicine was losing its way by ignoring the whole person, spirituality and the soul. So, he turned his attention to healers and healing. That change was also driven by curiosity and his need to understand his own spiritual experiences and encounters with healing. Academics who are interested in healing often struggle with the lack of a clear definition, suggesting that it makes it difficult to study or understand the subject. The most commonly used words to describe healing are “wholeness” and “transformational change”. These attempts to describe healing are all just words, whereas healing is actually about feelings, emotions and experiences.
