ABSTRACT

The action learning set is the small group which is the vehicle for the learning process. It is how set members work out and pursue their own actions in the workplace and learn from that experience through processes of review, reflection and planning. The set is concerned with:

Helping set members learn from the issues they are addressing, so they can increasingly challenge their own and others’ assumptions.

Diagnosing the nature of the challenge and then going on to implement practical ways forward.

Moving into uncharted territory where problems are unfamiliar, rather than areas where set members are already experienced.
