ABSTRACT

The human race is ever moving on; men – and women – seldom take time off to rest on their laurels; no sooner has one goal been reached, the next ambition achieved, and they press on again seeking new fields to conquer. Women mountaineers are no exception; manless parties, mother and daughter ropes, no longer make news; most of the major alpine problems have been solved – in the 1950s women climbers were away to other great mountain ranges in other parts of the world.
