ABSTRACT
It was reckoned in the previous chapters that the restriction of warship deployment by international agreement was doubtful in terms of mutual security and was in any case unlikely. This chapter examines to what extent states may unilaterally restrict the movement of foreign warships, on the grounds of arms control; it also looks at the question whether they should do so, and some of their practical problems should they decide to attempt to do so.
