On 7 December 1918 Lieutenant David McConnel, an 18-year-old officer in the Royal Air Force, died in an air crash in the north of England. The testimony of his roommate and fellow officer Lieutenant J. J. Larkin, backed up by signed statements from other witnesses, provides one of the most impressive cases of a spontaneous paranormal phenomenon on record. 1 The facts of the McConnel case, according to the written testimony, are briefly as follows.
