ABSTRACT

Although the tribal lifeworld sustaining the care network in Things Fall Apart (and already under stress in Arrow of God) is present in both No Longer at Ease and A Man of the People, it had been rendered dysfunctional as the call of care and concern now reached far beyond tribal boundaries, and apt to generate crises in being ignored. In the absence of a shared lifeworld in Anthills of the Savannah, care alone holds the potential for bonding together into a nation disparate peoples haphazardly rounded up to form a state. It only wanted a leadership with the necessary sensitivity and willingness to address human need.
