ABSTRACT

Fundamentalists act rationally on the basis of their beliefs. However, this does not imply that these beliefs are rational, but rather that their actions follow from their beliefs. Their two core beliefs are that God tells individual believers through his Word all they need to know and that there is a constant cosmic conflict between God and Satan, acted out in the struggle between believers and unbelievers. The secondary beliefs that follow differ markedly between fundamentalisms, however, because of different interpretations of God's Word. God's Word is the expression of God himself and is therefore all-sufficient, inerrant, unchanging, and powerful.
