ABSTRACT

If they share the same core beliefs, why are fundamentalisms so different? They interpret God's Word differently, despite their belief that it has one clear meaning. And they are selective in the parts to which they pay attention. Hence, their secondary beliefs differ in terms of their conduct of the struggle. Some avoid the foe as much as possible. They value purity and obedience and believe there is nothing they can do to affect outcomes, as God controls everything. Others believe they have a degree of agency and seek to influence the world's institutions. And others again seek to overthrow them violently, emphasising bravery and sacrifice.
