ABSTRACT

Marietta, GA, is several miles southwest of Roswell in the Georgia suburbs. Utilizing a council-manager format, they use nonpartisan elections and district representatives on the city council. Considerably less wealthy than Roswell, Marietta’s median household income is $57,453 compared with Roswell’s $99,726. Its population is almost two-thirds of Roswell and its poverty rate is almost double. Compared with Roswell, Marietta was able to maneuver their way into the reform in a similar, yet more stoic way than their suburban counterparts.
