ABSTRACT

In the context of China's international engagement on the internet or cyber governance issues, the fourth chapter examines how China's diplomatic efforts have sought to promote its position at various platforms, beginning with the case of the International Code of Conduct for Information Security and then looking at the World Internet Conference. It also highlights how China's International Strategy of Cooperation on Cyberspace tethers the ideas and principles that China has for the future of cyberspace with a clear plan of action. The chapter thereafter dissects the technology dimension of China's Belt and Road Initiative (better known as Digital Silk Road), the plan for a Digital Renminbi, and the Global Initiative on Data Security.
