ABSTRACT

A thorough assessment for dysgraphia can confirm if your child has dysgraphia. Professionals who assess for dysgraphia include occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, school psychologists, and neuropsychologists. Since many cognitive areas are involved in writing, the examiner must complete a broad assessment that encompasses many areas including critical thinking, self-talk, memory, fine motor coordination, visual-spatial thinking, and processing speed. There is no definitive stand-alone test to assess for dysgraphia. You can try some informal and at-home screening assessments to further your insight that your child's struggle could be dysgraphia.
