ABSTRACT
Most social scientists are unaware that the concept of anomia has a relevant role in Biblical literature; moreover, even if aware, most might still suspect that Biblical and sociological anomie would have very little, if anything, in common. 1 Yet, not only is anomia a key word in the Greek Scriptures and in related writings, but also Biblical and sociological concepts of anomie are surprisingly similar.
