ABSTRACT

CONCERNING the golfing temperament, very much nonsense has been written. Personally, I have a very great liking for the idea of the ancients that a man was composed of the four elements, earth, air, fire and water. If one of these predominated it fixed the temperament of that particular man. Thus, four parts of air to one each of earth, fire and water, and you had a man mercurial in his actions and his ideas; ten parts of fire, a particularly hot-tempered fellow.
