ABSTRACT
This is the first of three chapters that follow the production of the play from page to stage. Central to this chapter is the triangulation between the writings of Anne Frank, the book publication and the script. Much has been written about the contentious atmosphere in the creation of the script. I hereby concentrate on the creation of texts, diary and writing, with insights from adaptation studies in mind. Anne Frank is portrayed as a dramatist in her own right.
