ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a detailed history of the step-by-step realization of the Dutch production of The Diary of Anne Frank. Successively, the acquisition of the rights, the casting, the translation and the boisterous rehearsals are discussed. Because of the criticism, the ensemble felt a duty to shape the play as carefully as possible and with its own twist.
