ABSTRACT
The world of drama was already occupied by affective and cultural memories and these set the stage for the production of The Diary of Anne Frank. This chapter discusses parallel theater practices centered on entertainment, Jewish humor and nostalgia as well as the tradition of Jewish stock characters that met increasing resistance.
