ABSTRACT

In Chapter 2, we let co-author Kathi Milliken tell her story about meeting and evaluating Kevin Boyd, a juvenile who was involved in the murder of his father. She tells how she got assigned to the case and tells about her first interview with him. Then, she talks about the dilemma she faced with making recommendations for how the court should handle his sentence. This chapter also introduces the case of Nathaniel Abraham, who was said to be the youngest juvenile ever tried as an adult. These two cases, Kevin Boyd and Nathaniel Abraham, lead to discussions about waivers in the next chapter.
