ABSTRACT

This chapter allows Kathi Milliken to continue her story about the interviews and the trial for Kevin Boyd. However, there is discussion about the fears and predictions in the late 20th century about the so-called super-predator teenagers. There is further discussion of the Nathaniel Abraham case and blended sentences. Also, there is a discussion about waivers of youth to adult courts and reasons for waiving juveniles to criminal courts. It is noted that there is a difference in waiver rates for Black and white youth. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the decision Kathi had to make in Kevin Boyd’s case.
