ABSTRACT

Not everyone finds it easy to show emotion or talk about their feelings. Some generations have been brought up to hide what they are feeling i.e. to keep a stiff upper lip. Crying can be viewed as a sign of weakness. Two scripts are presented in the chapter in order to facilitate crying. Sometimes clients say they want to cry but no matter how hard they try they cannot release any tears. Script 1 uses a dam to encourage the release of tears. Script 2 which uses a doll was originally written for a child but works equally well for an adult.
