ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 explores whether accessing geo-blocked digital content on streaming websites through circumvention is considered copyright infringement. Geo-blocking prevents users from accessing digital content through streaming by setting out a territorial barrier. End-users may employ VPNs to circumvent such geo-blocks; Chapter 5 therefore examines whether technological barriers such as geo-blocks have a rebounding persuasive effect on end-users, motivating them to find circumvention techniques.
