ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an introduction to health care delivery and its evolution after independence on 15 August 1947. This chapter will also look into constitutional responsibilities shared across the centre and state levels pertaining to health care provisions. Analysing the survey figures also provides a glimpse into the utilisation of different types of care used by the people.
