ABSTRACT

This chapter offers a straightforward planning process that will help to ensure appropriate matching of goals, content, and method, a smooth delivery, and evaluation of the effect of the input on alcohol education. The process can be used whether we are planning to work on a one-to-basis with a client or patient or in a groupwork setting. Planning our alcohol education will help us to move away from simply giving information or advice and will allow us to make use of the approaches. There are many preconceived alcohol education programmes that tell us that we must include this aspect or that we must not neglect another aspect, but one omission that is frequently made relates to stated goals and objectives for such programmes.
