ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we have reviewed two stages: Intervention Planning and Intervention Implementation, Monitoring, and Performance Feedback. The stages are collaborative and systematic. Consultants and consultees work together to select a socially valid intervention matched to the problem(s) defined during PID/PA; clarify all details of an implementation plan, including what, where, when, how often, and who; and attend to intervention integrity or adherence, including the potential need for flexibility within fidelity.

As posited earlier, interventions are not magic (even EBIs!), and consultants are not magicians. Therefore, despite the natural tendency consultants might have to provide immediate help and the reinforcement consultants might receive from consultees to provide a quick fix, doing so might actually derail the consultation process. After reading the chapter and completing the activities embedded within, we hope you feel more prepared to navigate the numerous challenges that emerge during these problem-solving stages.
