ABSTRACT

In this chapter, a comprehensive depiction of the Codevelopment Action Learning method’s Step 4: ideation, reflection, and support unfolds. The primary aim of Step 4 is to assist the client in reaching their goal by encouraging the consultants to share their experiences, ideas, potential solutions, and available resources, along with their own past encounters that could aid the client in making informed decisions. Additionally, this phase involves the consultants reverting to asking questions, propelling the client’s thinking forward, or offering practical support between sessions. The step’s essence lies in fostering diverse ideas, fostering an atmosphere of mutual goodwill.

Another objective of Step 4 is that the consultants and facilitator also benefit by gaining insights or actionable ideas they can apply to their own work. This is the strength of mutual learning!

This chapter provides additional information regarding the facilitation of Step 4, its advantages, a captivating real-life example, and a detailed examination of the theoretical foundations underpinning this stage, with a focus on ideation and divergent thinking.
