ABSTRACT

A Google search on the word “payments” returns about 9.8 trillion results. A further search on “what are payments?” reduces this number by two thirds. If you narrow it down to “payments training courses”, you get about 140 million results including sponsored entries, each focussing on the piece of the payments puzzle that is relevant or commercially important. Evidently, payments are complicated and confusing, because the word means different things to different people.
