ABSTRACT
This chapter, by reference to five themes pivotal in Weber’s sociology of civilizations, examines these presuppositions and procedures in some detail. It also defines by comparing group-based configurations both the West’s singular arrays of groups and those unique to China and India. In addition, this chapter identifies multiple causes at the foundation of each civilization’s particular historical development.
