ABSTRACT

Remote broadcasts and remote recordings are, for the most part, coverage of special events or of actualities by a station that intends to broadcast those events or actualities either as they occur in real time or on a tape-delayed basis in full or in part. The operating face of the mixer will have a pot for each input, and a master pot. The equipment used on field jobs or remotes all focuses around a small portable, limited function mixer or a portable tape recorder. The Sony PCM 2000 is providing competition for the Nagra recorders. The tendency is strong to disparage cassette recorders in their broadcast application. For a typical speech remote, the mult is set up with two mikes in front of the participants, and covering station takes a mike- or line-level feed from the mult output to a mike or line input to its equipment. A broadcast or recording studio is designed acoustically to enhance its program output.
