ABSTRACT
The aim of the empirical study reported here is to investigate the problem solving process by taking into consideration variables from at least three major sources of variation, namely characteristics of the psychological mechanisms which operate during performance, individual differences, and the task. A taxonomy of problem solving behaviors, the development and contents of which were described in Chapter 7, provides the basis for the organization of the data.
