ABSTRACT

Until now, sound and silence as an educational tool have been completely overlooked. Could it be because sound is ubiquitous and everywhere, like the air we breathe, free-spirited, unorganized, and seemingly unimportant? Or possibly because sound is with us 24 hours a day, even when we are “sound” asleep? Maybe because as we get older, we develop valuable skills to turn it off and tune out sound so as to preserve our energy and limit the amount of stimulus to our senses. Or maybe because it’s free, and we just take it for granted.
