ABSTRACT

Casting a globalcast may not be quite so critical, because the spotlight is usually shared. And the nature of the casting varies with the type of show. On Live Aid, the authors had a star-studded cast that promoters can only dream of. Although Our Common Future and Earth 90 were considerably shorter, shows lasting three and five hours still require large casts and spread the glory. For musical globalcasts, the talent booking is inevitably done by an agency or company specializing in that field. Contacts and contracts are much too complex for amateurs in this field. On the production staff, however, there are positions for talent/staff logistics specialists. Talent logistics are a major endeavor for a production of this size. The talent must be prepared to handle the unique nature of the series, not only the multiple sports events but also the political and philosophical implications beyond the events themselves.
