ABSTRACT

Downsizing in electronic and photonic equipment has been a trend for decades. Three major USA manufacturers of videoconferencing equipment are Compression Labs Inc. of San Jose, California; PictureTel of Peabody, Massachusetts; and Video Telecom Corporation of Austin, Texas. It is possible that the rapidly decreasing costs and size of videoconferencing equipment and of rental charges for use of established equipment could lead to use of this technique to cut down on some costs of surveying inject sites for globalcasts. Actually it's multimedia technology that can turn a private house or office into a miniature television studio. With advanced technology it's expected that viewers will be able to program the system to download selected items only. One day the almost overwhelmingly vast amounts of data needed to motivate virtual reality will be compressed and mastered into equipment that will allow home TV viewers to live in the same scenes with their favorite television stars, from soap operas to films.
