ABSTRACT

This reflection chapter will aim to put these analyses in the context of understanding the Iranian-Western relationship and the consequences of viewing International Relations (IR) with a mindfulness of non-Western thought. The consequences of this project will be explored by examining seven different findings. Part of the purpose of this chapter is to provide critical reflection, meaning that it will not be assumed that the impacts of viewing IR in this way are inherently positive. The reflections discuss Iranian foreign policy as a mirror of history, the existence of a non-Western turn in Iranian scholarship, and the utility of a focus on discursive ideology.
