ABSTRACT

The Building Act 1984 is intended to secure the health, safety and welfare of people who may use buildings or might otherwise be affected by buildings or matters connected with buildings. Each national jurisdiction sets its own building regulations for building work. In England the building regulations 20105 are enacted under the building act and are a set of national building standards that apply to the design and construction of the majority of new buildings and alterations to existing buildings, including projects involving a material change of use. 'Fire safety information' means information relating to the design and construction of the building or extension, and the services, fittings and equipment provided in, or in connection with, the building or extension, which will assist the responsible person to operate and maintain the building or extension with reasonable safety.
