ABSTRACT

Kazakh architect Togzhan Aubakirova aims to create architecture that responds directly to the environment the building stands in. Togzhan Aubakirova studied at the Kazakh Leading Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering in her home city of Almaty before leaving Kazakhstan to complete her architectural education at the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft in Dresden. One project where Aubakirova hopes she created a space that could be experienced and enjoyed widely was the reworking of Almaty’s central plaza – Republic Square. Kazakhstani architect Gulnara Diyarova has built her reputation creating a succession of private houses across Central Asia over a career spanning 20 years. Over the past 20 years, Tajikistani architect Shahnoz Rahmatullozoda has designed over 200 buildings across Central Asia, and in 2019 was made an Honorary Architect of the Republic of Tajikistan.
