ABSTRACT
In these chapters I have examined some of the dilemmas of modern medicine as I see them. I have sought to unmask medicine. I do not suggest there is anything sinister underneath. There is something of value for all of us once we dispel some of the myths and fancies. I have suggested that there must be a new relationship between doctor and patient. I have suggested that we must take responsibility for our lives. I have suggested that we must challenge the power which doctors exert over our lives. I have suggested that doctors must be made accountable to us. I have suggested ways of redressing the balance of power. I have suggested ways in which a new partnership based on mutual respect may be forged. I have sought to start the debate. Now you must take over.
