ABSTRACT
In 2017 a science teacher in the U.S. showed his high school class a video on climate change and a student fled the classroom. Biologist E.O. Wilson repeatedly pointed out that human learning is prepared and counter-prepared for by our instincts and genes. Human learning is also prepared and counter-prepared for by a person’s previous education. The high school runner is a case in point. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell called the Ultra-Right’s and the fossil fuel industry’s campaign to change public opinion of climate change “guerrilla warfare.” This book calls it “the miseducation of the American people.” The huge investment in miseducation counter-prepared millions to believe settled scholarship and to distrust government.
