ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on two important dimensions: labour time use by activities and participation in decision making by the different workers. The study included several questions to gather information on the above two dimensions. The time use data was gathered for eleven different activities on a ten-point scale for four different participants: family male, family female, male wage labourer and female wage labourer. The data collected related to specific crop-the last most important crop raised during the Kharif season. The second set of data relates to perception of women about their involvement in decisions relating to 23 different farm activities. Satisfaction from any employment is usually linked with expected returns on invested time and other resources. However, in the present case, the expectations may in the first place be relatively less due to their social status, ignorance and repeated experiences of failure.
