ABSTRACT

In the final chapter, Conclusion, the author summarizes the book and, drawing on Bion's work, revisits the triad of arrogance, curiosity, and stupidity observed in certain psychotic patients. He sustains that the split personality results from a cruel inner superego and explores the implications for psychoanalysis as an institution. Bion's reinterpretation of the Oedipus myth is mentioned, as is the need for critical thinking to meet the challenges of modern society. The author emphasizes the importance of dialectical thinking and the logic of love in promoting equal and symmetrical relationships. Reflections on “safe space” and suggestions for caring practices aimed at countering destructive pressures in contemporary society are offered.
