ABSTRACT
The introduction explains the motivations for undertaking research on deliberative democracy. By posing the research questions, the specific aims of the book are discussed, as well as the argumentation. It is explained that the empirical layer is built around an interpretative-qualitative narrative in which the main research tool is the in-depth interview. The considerations are set against the background of the existing literature on the subject. The second part of the introduction is an overview of the book, briefly characterizing each of its chapters.
