ABSTRACT

Becoming a connected educator is really helpful for those making the transition to teaching in a 1:1 setting. In The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell writes about the power of loose links, the benefits teachers get from being loosely connected to a wide network of people. They are active on both Twitter and Google, but some teachers tell them they have a strong preference for one or the other. It may be a cliche, but their profession needs their voice in the conversation about teaching and learning in the age of 1:1 computing. That process can happen only if dedicated teachers come to the table to offer their ideas, experiments, victories, and challenges. They have witnessed the progress that is possible when they place powerful tools in the hands of innovative teachers and set them free. This helps teachers’ experience success for their students with the technology now at their fingertips.
