ABSTRACT

Looking at Prayer Book revision from a more global perspective requires some methodological consideration as processes in different Provinces moved at different speeds. However, there was a worldwide movement in Anglicanism which might be seen as an early phase of the Liturgical Movement. The story includes several Provinces with Anglicans in Scotland, United States, and Canada revising the Confirmation liturgy at similar times. For England, this led up to the 1928 Prayer Book crisis, precipitating further worldwide revision.
