ABSTRACT
The Politburo over a period of 856 months was a group of 130 individuals. It wasn’t just a commanding height in history and an interesting study in terms of its operations, it was also a specific set of people who varied from each other in many ways. This chapter considers the 130 members from many different perspectives, such as age, nationality, and levels of education, so as to present a multifaceted profile of the group over time. George K. Schueller did this for full members in 1951, as did T. H. Rigbyin 1971. 1 This study includes candidate members and uses recent Soviet sources to arrive at the variety of categories highlighted in the tables. All tables include members and candidates.
