ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights that the construction of Chinese consciousness, under the guidance of a concept of cultural consciousness, has become the driving force of the current cultural transformation. First of all, cultural transformation is a change in attitude toward the natural world, which means a transformation from man's fearless exploration and exploitation of nature to thinking about the value and meaning of man's existence between heaven and Earth with a reverence for nature. Therefore, cultural transformation must take place in the hearts or mentalities of people. The study of social change and transformation was regarded as the basis for the consciousness of legitimacy issues that defined the boundaries of their own research when Western sociology was first established, and indirectly influenced the growth path of Chinese sociology itself. We need this kind of cultural consciousness that enables us to generate the necessary cultural self-confidence.
