ABSTRACT

Several years ago, the assistant principal of a K–8 school called me about some of the challenges she was having at her school. “I have a great team of teachers. They work hard, they have wonderful relationships with their students, and they are experienced, but our math scores are low. We purchased a new math program that we feel reflects our beliefs about inquiry-based instruction, but our teachers are struggling with implementing it. My background is in ELA, and although I want to support the teachers, I’m not an expert on the content. I need help. Do you think you can work with us?”
