ABSTRACT

Establishing a school culture of kindness is essential. Giving and receiving kindness makes us feel happier, less stressed, and more connected to others. Acts of kindness are not just nice; they are a necessity for optimal well-being and positive life outcomes, such as academic success and professional advancement. Repeatedly performing small acts of kindness can permanently change how we perceive someone. Trusting relationships with our students’ families greatly enhance a school’s culture. Engaged parents, who understand, value, and support our efforts with their students, make our jobs easier and happier. Based on their own former school experiences, a lack of outreach, or reasons we don’t understand, some parents and families can find it very intimidating just to walk into a school building, especially if their children have mostly known failure.
