ABSTRACT

Some classrooms have itinerant teachers helping during small-group instruction. Patty, a primary-grade teacher, sits at her small-group reading table with all the materials she needs at her fingertips. This helps to maximize her time with the children and makes her planning and teaching easier. Patty begins her lesson by pulling today's new book for the yellow group from the plastic stacking drawers behind her table. Patty has posted an anchor chart on a bulletin board right behind her small-group table. Patty reviews the chart with her group. She reminds them to use the chart, if needed, as they read to help them with tricky sounds.
