ABSTRACT

This invitation is designed to help students think about the best parts of themselves. The best parts of themselves could be a part of their body as many children have done in Wendy Ewald's incredible photographic poetry collection The Best Part of Me: Children Talk About Their Bodies in Words and Pictures. But students could also think about their best parts by considering other qualities in themselves that they love: their laughter, dreams, friendship, confidence, curiosity, or hope. He decided to write about one of the best parts of him and his laughter. Today, he want you to focus on something positive that you love about yourself. You may want to encourage students to take photos of parts of themselves they love, if they choose something you can see as a way of starting with a different means of expression other than writing.
