ABSTRACT

Learning to listen is one of the hardest skills over our lifetime. But, there is a better way, and it's through listening with love. This invitation is designed to help students consider their own tendencies when listening and to get stronger at listening by simply being present and sometimes waiting. But listening to someone else is really, really hard to do. But sometimes, the author do his best listening by simply being there for his friend. Read aloud The Rabbit Listened as a way to grow students thinking about how to help others when something goes wrong in someone else's life. Let's think about how we can show others we are listening. Consider making listening with love a class goal and record in a public place the stories students tell you about times that they listened to someone else or they felt they were really listened to.
