ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study was to find out how local authorities plan the provision of services to meet the needs of the elderly in their areas. The ways in which local authorities attempted to plan, and the problems which they faced in formulating and implementing plans were discussed in detail in Parts II and III. In this chapter the position in 1965–6 is summarized, and the reasons for it are examined. In the final chapter, a possible approach to planning is outlined.
